Bianca Bellov\u00e1 (1970) achieved her international breakthrough with the book Jezero<\/em> (The Lake), which was honored with the ERBD Prize (awarded to the year’s best work of literary fiction translated into English). In her work Bellov\u00e1 has a keen eye for the interactions between people and she is not shy of raising unsettling questions and to touch on the grand themes of our times. Compared with a great narrative talent, her books are a joy to read and will entice any reader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After studying at the University of Economics she worked as a translator and interpreter of English. Following a trip across India, she wrote the unpublished novel Green Curry. <\/em>She struggled to find a publisher for her next book Sentiment\u00e1ln\u00ed rom\u00e1n<\/em> (A Sentimental Novel), but eventually succeeded. And the rest is history, culminating in the great success of her multi-award-winning book The Lake<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work has been translated into more than twenty languages. Bellov\u00e1 has earned her place more than ever in the international literary world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
